A group of select staff at Enabel Uganda underwent a 2 day training in Business and Report writing at Fairway Hotel Uganda from January 30th – 31st 2023. The training was aimed at equipping the Enabel staff with tips and skills of how they can write visually compelling and meaningful reports.

Day One

Principles and tips of good writing and editing were the first modules participants were taken through to ensure they were fully grounded in what is required to ensure you create a comprehensive appealing report. Dr Charlotte Ntulume gave insight on the writing process and how to plan your document and was later followed by Dr William Tayeebwa who discussed the 8Cs of good writing and editing.

A group discussion on the the Principles of good writing followed with presentations from respective teams. The last session of Day 1 was a practical session on how to create visually appealing reports with use of nice imagery and graphics.

Day Two

Day 2 began with a session on Results Based Communication facilitated by Ms. Zuurah Karungi. which looked at the strategic ways the organization can plan to communicate outputs/ results from various projects they are leading.

The next session facilitated by Edward Tumwine focused on the practical use of different online tools for punctuation and grammar in reports. Tools like Grammarly, Quillbot, ChatGPT, Scribens, Pro-Writing Aid were demonstrated and practiced by members to enhance the quality of grammar and punctuation in the reports produced.

The final activity of the training saw each participant share way forward on how to improve their report writing and develop a checklist of key things to include when creating a report.
